Warning! This article contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again episode 4.

Daredevil: Born Again may have just introduced its replacement for White Tiger via the character of Angela del Toro. Above most other new Daredevil: Born Again cast members, the late Kamar de los Reyes was one of the most intriguing as Hector Ayala. The ending of Daredevil: Born Again episode 3 brought his time in the show to a tragic close, however, with Hector facing unjust punishment at the hands of dirty cops after being acquitted of their false murder accusation.

The death of Daredevil: Born Again‘s White Tiger hung over episode 4, with Matt seeking the justice that his killers deserve. The episode opens with Matt viewing the body and taking possession of Hector’s belongings, including the amulet that gave the White Tiger his superhuman abilities. With Daredevil: Born Again episode 4’s ending teasing the slow return of Kingpin, more heroes could be needed to face off against him. Interestingly, the scene where Matt retrieves Hector’s belongings introduces a new character who could replace Hector as White Tiger and an ally of Daredevil against Fisk in the future.

A Descendant Of Hector Ayala

The character in question is named Angela del Tora, Hector’s niece. Angela was seen very briefly during Hector’s trial in Daredevil: Born Again episode 3, but was properly introduced to the show at the beginning of episode 4. Angela is shown angrily confronting the doctor who conducted Hector’s post-mortem while Matt is present, making clear her feelings about the unfair murder of her uncle. Matt comforts Angela, telling her that she has to believe that someone will get to the bottom of Hector’s death, thus indirectly ensuring her that he will be the one to do so.

Angela del Toro is now in possession of the White Tiger amulet…

Camila Rodriguez portrays Angela del Toro in Daredevil: Born Again. Rodriguez has been known for roles in projects like Station 19, Extended Family, and, more recently, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. Rodriguez’s appearance in Daredevil: Born Again episode 4 was relatively short, but several elements teased her continued appearances. One is Matt’s care and almost mentorship of Angela, which he now likely feels stronger about after Hector’s death and the guilt that will eat away at him. Moreover, Angela del Toro is now in possession of the White Tiger amulet.

Angela Del Toro’s Marvel Comics History And Powers Explained

Angela Follows In Her Uncle’s Footsteps

In Marvel Comics, Angela del Toro becomes a big character after Hector’s death. She gains possession of the White Tiger amulet as she did in Daredevil: Born Again, and asks Matt – who is outed as Daredevil shortly before Hector’s case – for help. Matt begins providing training to Angela del Toro now that the latter is in possession of the White Tiger amulet, even tricking her into stopping a robbery in New York. Touched by the gratitude of the store owner, Angela assumes the mantle of White Tiger completely, becoming the fourth iteration of the hero.

As White Tiger, Angela’s powers are similar to those her uncle possessed. The White Tiger amulet offers superhuman strength, durability, agility, reflexes, and speed, as well as the ability to camouflage to hide from danger. One difference between the comics and Daredevil: Born Again is that Angela was an FBI agent in the former before becoming White Tiger, meaning she also had firearms and hand-to-hand experience on top of the abilities the mystical amulet gave her.

Will Angela Del Toro Become White Tiger In The MCU?

The Foundation For A New Hero Has Been Established

With Angela del Toro’s Marvel Comics history in mind, Daredevil: Born Again could have set the character up to become White Tiger in the future. Angela now has possession of the amulet and has begun forming a friendship with Matt, meaning the storyline of Daredevil mentoring Angela’s White Tiger could be adapted in future MCU stories, potentially even Daredevil: Born Again season 2. After Hector’s death, it would be easy to explain that Angela became White Tiger to avoid other citizens of New York facing similar injustices now that she has the means of preventing them by using the amulet.

I’m Convinced I Know How Daredevil: Born Again Episode 1’s Major Death Will Be Undone For Season 2

Daredevil: Born Again opened with the death of one of its most beloved characters, and I’m convinced that they’re planning to bring them back to life.

If Angela del Toro does become White Tiger in the MCU’s future, she could have appearances beyond Daredevil: Born Again. For instance, Angela’s White Tiger could become a member of the Young Avengers given her similar age to heroes like Ms. Marvel and Kate Bishop. After all, any young hero in the franchise could be included as part of the MCU’s Young Avengers characters. If not, however, Daredevil: Born Again has at least teased a solo future for Angela del Toro in the franchise as the next holder of the White Tiger mantle.
