Marvel is teasing a major shocking reveal in next month’s Wolverine #8, which will serve as the 400th issue of Wolverine’s solo series (Marvel uses “legacy” numbering, where it treats the various relaunches in its series as part of one continuous overarching series, so while this is the seventh time that we’ve seen a Wolverine #8, it is the first Wolverine #400), and it promises to include a major shock to the classic superhero’s senses.
The issue is being written and drawn by the regular creative team of the series, Saladin Ahmed and Martín Cóccolo, but Eisner-Award-winning writer/artist Daniel Warren Johnson will also be contributing a backup story for the historic issue. Marvel’s press release for the issue suggests, though, that the reveal will be in the part of the story by Ahmed and Cóccolo. It will presumably tie in with the current storyline in the series featuring Wolverine fighting the forces of The Adamantine, but, again, since it is a shocking reveal, it might come out of left field.

It then added, “In April’s WOLVERINE #8, Saladin Ahmed and Martín Cóccolo celebrate the milestone 400th issue of Wolverine’s solo comic series with a reveal no one will see coming…” and included a drawing by Cóccolo of Wolverine reacting with shock to some news of some sorts apparently written down on a piece of paper.

What is going on in Wolverine’s comic book series currently?
The current Wolverine series is involved in a storyline involving The Adamantine, the ancient metal that was the basic for Hercules’ Golden Mace. During a battle with Cyber in the first issue of the series, Wolverine and Cyber accidentally awakened the sentient metal, and when it discovered the existence of Adamantium, it decided that Adamantium was an affront to Adamantine.
It has teamed up with Wolverine’s ancient foe, Romulus, for some plot that also involves it turning a number of Adamantium-users (like Cyber, Constricter, andLady Deathstrike) into its servants by transforming their Adamantium to Adamantine. Whether the shocking reveal will tie in with the Adamantine storyline or not will be revealed next month!
