In a statement regarding his upcoming return to Marvel Comics, Loeb said, “In 1995, I was extremely lucky to be part of one of the biggest stories to hit the X-Men with Age of Apocalypse, writing both Astonishing X-Men (1995) and X-Man (1995). Now, thirty years later, join me and the superstar artist of tomorrow—Simone Di Meo—as we return to this doomed timeline with some of the greatest X-Men characters ever!”
The release of Giant-Size Age of Apocalypse comes as part of the publisher’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the original Giant-Size X-Men #1, which introduced a whole host of new characters and concepts to the Marvel Universe. The event will see Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, pulled back through time by the reality-altering mutant David Haller, better known as Legion, which leads to an ongoing battle between the two that could reshape the entire history of mutantkind. Things begin with the release of Giant-Size X-Men #1, which will be followed by Giant-Size Dark Phoenix #1, Giant-Size Age of Apocalypse #1, Giant-Size House of M #1, and close out with Giant-Size X-Men #2.
