Marvel and DC Comics are coming together for a major crossover event in 2025, the first one in over 20 years. Hopefully echoing past events like DC vs Marvel and JLA/Avengers, these new one-shots will undoubtedly be some of the best-selling comics of the year. That said, we don’t yet know any details regarding the story or which heroes/villains might be involved in Marvel/DC and DC/Marvel.

Recently announced by respective editors-in-chief CB Cebulski for Marvel and Marie Javins for DC, Marvel/DC and DC/Marvel were officially announced as all-new one-shots that will be released at the end of 2025. However, the creative teams, overall plot, and included characters remain a mystery. With that in mind, here are 15 showdowns and epic match-ups I would love to see in the upcoming Marvel/DC crossover.

15

Superman vs The Sentry

A Battle of Titans

Superman vs The Sentry is a common “Who Would Win” showdown brought up by comic book fans. After all, Robert Reynolds’ Sentry is one of the few Marvel heroes with power that’s on par with DC’s Man of Steel. Harnessing the “power of a million suns”, it would be fascinating to see if Superman could withstand the Sentry, especially if he also had to deal with The Void, the darker manifestation of Reynold’s powers.

14

Superman vs Doctor Strange

The Man of Steel Taking On The Sorcerer Supreme

Because Superman is vulnerable to magic, I’d be very curious to see if Marvel’s Doctor Strange could gain the upper hand over Kal-El. As the Sorcerer Supreme, Stephen Strange is one of the Marvel Universe’s most powerful sorcerers, though I’d love to see a moment where Superman is simply too strong. For example, it’d be pretty epic to see Superman breaking Strange’s Crimson Bands of Cyttorak (not unlike when Superman broke Green Lantern’s constructs in his New 52 debut).

13

Spider-Man & Nightwing

They Have So Much In Common

Envisioning this one as less of a showdown and more of a team-up, I absolutely need to see Spider-Man and Nightwing interacting and working side by side. When it comes to heroes who are true beacons of light and hope who refuse to stay down, Spidey and the former Boy Winder are very high on the list. Not only do they have similar positive personalities, but Spider-Man and Nightwing also both quite agile as they jump and swing from the rooftops of their respective cities.

12

Batman vs Iron Man

A Major Battle of Billionaires

While they weren’t pitted against each other in JLA/Avengers, it would be pretty great to see each universe’s resident superhero billionaires go head-to-head. Both Iron Man and Batman are extremely intelligent, and both rely on their resources and technology to be more than mere men. While I do think Batman’s years of physical training might give him an advantage depending on the scenario, he’s still likely dealing with Tony Stark and his massive arsenal of various advanced armors.

11

Batman vs Moon Knight

Capes and Random Bull****

In a similar vein, it would be very cool to see Batman take on Moon Knight, a Marvel character who’s certainly risen in fame in the years since DC vs Marvel and JLA/Avengers. Perhaps the time has finally come for Moon Knight and his alters to take on Batman, as the two nocturnal vigilantes are quite similar. Likewise, it would be pretty funny to see them echo the classic meme by throwing a bunch of “random bulls***” at each other with batarangs, crescent darts, and ankhs flying everywhere.

10

Wonder Woman vs Thor

Demigods as Rivals (Or Allies?)

Although Wonder Woman briefly picked up Thor’s hammer in Marvel vs DC. #2,she ended up fighting Storm after setting it down to make it a fair fight. However, recent comics did see Diana taking on the DC Universe’s version of the God of Thunder and taking his hammer as well. To that end, I do think that time has come for Wonder Woman and Marvel’s Thor to finally get a proper showdown.

9

Moon Knight & Doctor Fate

The Avatars of Khonshu and Nabu

It would be pretty cool to see two of Marvel and DC’s biggest Egyptian heroes joining forces in the upcoming Marvel/DC crossover. As the reluctant avatars of Egyptian gods/cosmic beings, one could imagine Marc Spector and Kent Nelson would have a lot in common. To that end, it would be fascinating to see if the Egyptian moon god Khonshu would actually get along with Nabu, the cosmic Lord of Order who once advised the Egyptian pharaohs of old.

8

Avengers 1,000,000 B.C. vs The Jurassic League

Prehistoric Powerhouses

Marvel recently introduced the Avengers of 1,000,000 B.C.: Odin, the first Black Panther, Starbrand, Ghost Rider (riding a woolly mammoth), Agamotto, Fan Fei (the first Iron Fist, Firehair (the first Phoenix), and more. Likewise, DC recently revealed an alternate reality where dinosaurs still ruled and were sentient and home to the Jurassic League: a brachiosaurus Superman, an allosaurus Batman, a triceratops Wonder Woman, a velociraptor Flash, a parasaurolophus Green Lantern, and a baryonyx Aquaman. As such, it would be amazing if the upcoming crossover brought these two prehistoric teams together.

7

Doctor Doom vs Lex Luthor

Two Of The Most Popular (And Genius) Marvel/DC Villains

In the villain category, bringing Doctor Doom and Lex Luthor together feels like a no-brainer. Both are super-geniuses, and they’re two of the most popular comic book villains of all time. To that end, it would be fantastic if an alliance between Luthor and Doom served as a primary threat that brought the Avengers and Justice League together.

6

The Ultimate vs Absolute Universes

Alternate Universes In A Major Incursion?

Currently, Marvel has the immensely popular Ultimate Universe line set in an alternate reality apart from the primary Earth-616. Likewise, DC has something similar with its own alternate Absolute Universe, a world created by Darkseid where heroes are the underdogs. As such, it would be pretty cool if Marvel/DC and DC/Marvel explored the entire multiverse, and characters from both alternate universes were featured. Ultimate Spider-Man meeting Absolute Batman would certainly be a pretty entertaining encounter.

5

Hulk vs Doomsday

Behemoths Who Could Pay Off “Secret Crisis”

Back in 2020 with DC’s Doomsday Clock #12, a future Marvel/DC crossover known as “Secret Crisis” was teased. According to Watchmen’s Doctor Manhattan who was looking into the future, it was said that a green behemoth dies protecting Superman who’s also “stronger than Doomsday”. Keeping that in mind, it would be pretty cool if the upcoming crossover saw Hulk actually proving his strength against Doomsday himself.

4

Deadpool & Wolverine vs Deathstroke

Living Weapons (Plus Wade vs Slade)

Deadpool & Wolverine taking on Deathstroke has a lot of potential. Not only would it be great (and probably pretty hilarious) to see Wade Wilson finally cross blades with Slade Wilson, but Deathstroke, Wolverine, and Deadpool were all government experiments who became living weapons. As such, it would be pretty great to see all three of them together on the same page.

3

Mister Fantastic & Plastic Man

Elasticity For Days

Mister Fantastic going head-to-head with Plastic Man would be fascinating. While they have shared powers of elasticity, they couldn’t be more different as the Smartest Man Alive in the Marvel Universe and one of DC’s most annoying heroes alive. That said, one could imagine a pretty “elongated” fight before Reed Richards and Patrick O’Brian could perhaps join forces.

2

Ghost Rider vs The Flash

They Can Both Race Through The Multiverse

I think it would be very exciting to see Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider race The Flash in the upcoming crossover. This is notably because Robbie has recently become the “All-Rider”, a rare Ghost Rider capable of driving anything and traveling the multiverse at will. Considering The Flash’s ability to travel the multiverse via the Speed Force, I think there’s lots of potential to see the two heroes racing across various realities and Earths.

1

Doctor Fate vs The Scarlet Witch

Order vs Chaos

In the DC Universe, Doctor Fate is a sorcerer and agent for the Lord of Order. In the Marvel Universe, The Scarlet Witch’s power comes from the elder god of Chaos Chthon. To that end, I would love to know which hero’s power would win out if Kent Nelson and Wanda Maximoff were pitted against one another in the upcoming Marvel/DC crossover.

Marvel/DC and DC/Marvel are set to release later this year in 2025.
