Comic books are a hub for creativity, bringing countless wacky and weird characters to life, and Marvel has introduced plenty of them. Marvel Rivals is the perfect platform to showcase Marvel’s more unconventional characters, since it’s not a massive, big-budget blockbuster but still has a dedicated fanbase enjoying the game.

The roster already includes quirky heroes like Jeff the Shark and Squirrel Girl, but they barely scratch the surface of Marvel’s strange and diverse lineup. While many are content with mainstream heroes like the Avengers, there’s a strong contingent of fans who adore Marvel’s oddball characters and would love to see them added to the game in the future.

There Aren’t Many Marvel Characters More Chaotic Than Madcap

First Appeared in Captain America#307

Madcap’s origin is as tragic as it is bizarre. While traveling to a church retreat with his parents and sister, their bus collided with a tanker truck carrying Chemical X07. Thrown from the bus, Madcap was left unconscious in a puddle of the substance for an unknown amount of time. After waking in a hospital and escaping, he discovered two unsettling abilities: an immensely powerful healing factor and the power to influence people’s mental states.

10 Spider-Man Villains Who Belong In Marvel Rivals

Spider-Man might just be Marvel’s most beloved superhero, which means that his roster of villains are some of the most notable and dangerous.

With a wild stare capable of driving enemies insane, Madcap’s powers would be challenging to implement in Marvel Rivals, but, if done right, he could be an overpowered character. He can turn opponents mad simply by locking eyes with them, and if they close their eyes, he can achieve the same effect using his voice. Madcap would undoubtedly bring chaos to every match he’s in.

Basically a Living Portal, Doorman Would be Nearly Impossible to Track

First Appeared in West Coast Avengers #46

Not much is known about DeMarr Davis’s life before he joined the Great Lakes Avengers, other than that he is a mutant. He spent four years in college and three more in post-graduate school. During his studies, his mother passed away. After finishing school, he responded to Mr. Immortal’s call for costumed adventurers to join his team. Doorman may not be a household name, but he has the potential to be, especially if he’s added to the Marvel Rivals roster.

As his name suggests, Doorman is a living, breathing portal who could traverse the Rivals map faster than Spider-Man. Through his connection to the Darkforce Dimension, he can transform himself into a doorway for others to travel through, phase through solid objects, and become weightless. After being resurrected as an Angel of Death, Doorman gained additional powers that would make him even more unstoppable in Rivals.

Shamrock Manifests Some Ghostly Luck for Her Enemies

First Appeared in Marvel Superheroes: Contest of Champions #1

Molly Fitzgerald lived in Ireland with her father and brother. During a trip to the mountains, her father begged the heavens to grant mighty powers to his son. At first, it seemed nothing had happened, but years later, Molly discovered that she was the one gifted with powers.

Shamrock is a vessel for innocent souls who died in war and can manifest these spirits as bursts of energy that alter probability fields, which makes it seem like she’s manipulating luck. With an ability like this, Shamrock would be a nightmare to deal when whenever the map changes or shifts. Shamrock was one of Marvel’s more eccentric attempts to explore new ideas, and if Rivals ever starts to feel stale, perhaps they’ll bring her back to shake things up.

Shamu’s Murderous Cousin Orka Would Make a Brutal Vanguard

First Appeared in Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner #23

As a test subject of Dr. Dorcas, Orka was granted the powers of a killer whale through a belt that sapped energy from captive orcas. After repeatedly losing battles to Namor, Orka was approached by Roxxon and further augmented, becoming larger, stronger, and more durable. Most significantly, he no longer needed the power belt to maintain his abilities.

10 World-Ending Supervillains Who Would Annihilate the Competition in Marvel Rivals

The only thing fans love more than watching a fantastically overpowered villain attempt to destroy the world is playing as one in a video game.

Orka is a massive heavy hitter and was made to be a vanguard. With his unique Atlantean physiology, he can thrive both on land and in the deepest, coldest parts of the ocean. In addition to possessing the strength and durability of a killer whale, Orka can communicate with and sometimes control them. When Orka attacked New York, it was declared an omega-level emergency, and the same level of alarm would apply if he were ever spotted on the enemy team.

Man-Thing is a Nearly Immortal Swamp Monster With Massive Potential

First Appeared in Savage Tales #1

Dr. Ted Sallis was a biochemist who attempted to recreate the super soldier serum that gave Captain America his powers. Instead, he developed a serum granting immunity to all toxic biochemicals. After injecting himself with the last vial of the serum and crashing his car into a mystical swamp, Sallis was transformed into the Man-Thing.

Composed of different vegetation and mystic energy, Man-Thing has the ability to control and manipulate plant life. With his ability to adjust his size, he would be an almost unstoppable Vanguard. Whenever he senses fear, he secretes a deadly acid from his skin that burns everything it comes in contact with. Fans of Marvel’s Bronze Age would be thrilled to see a character like Man-Thing added to Marvel Rivals.

Slapstick is a Living Cartoon Character Who Would Be a Blast In Marvel Rivals

From Kate Bishop to Kamala Khan, these sidekicks and successors belong in Marvel Rivals.

Entirely composed of unstable molecules, Slapstick is as wild and absurd as they come. Marvel Rivals could use some fourth wall breaking, and if Deadpool isn’t the one to do it, Slapstick is the perfect candidate. With his cartoon physiology, he’s essentially immortal and can manipulate his body in countless outrageous ways. Slapstick is one of Marvel’s wackiest heroes, and while fans would be thrilled to see him added to the roster, he’d probably be banned from ranked matches for being too powerful.

With His Incredible Agility, Frog-Man Could Leap All Around the Map

First Appeared in Marvel Team-Up #121

After his mother passed away, Eugene Patilio was left with his father, a struggling inventor who could barely make ends meet. Eventually, his father was imprisoned for using his one successful creation, a frog-like suit with electrical coils that allowed the wearer to leap great distances, to commit burglaries. Hoping to redeem his father, Eugene donned the suit himself and became the hero Frog-Man.

Though he lacks superpowers, Frog-Man doesn’t let that stop him from leaping into action to save the day, and it shouldn’t keep him from being added to Marvel Rivals. His abilities come entirely from his eccentric frog suit, which lets him leap to ridiculous heights and angles. The suit’s slight padding also makes him marginally more durable than the average person. While Frog-Man might not deal massive damage, he’d be nearly impossible to track as he bounces across the map.

3

Doop may be the Most Powerful Cameraman in Existence

First Appeared in X-Force #116

Over time, Doop became the official videographer of the X-Force and experienced death and resurrection multiple times. An oddball through and through, Doop has built a cult following, and fans familiar with his name would love to see him added to Marvel Rivals.

Doop’s powers are so vast it might be easier to list what he can’t do. Capable of going toe-to-toe with Thor, Doop can do everything from firing psionic blasts and resurrecting himself to breaking the fourth wall and exploring the comic’s margins. He might even be omniscient. However, his abilities would need to be significantly toned down for the game, as Doop is a near-unstoppable powerhouse with limitless potential.

Besides Being a Master at Quak-Fuk, Howard the Duck Doesn’t Have any Real Powers

First Appeared in Adventure into Fear #19

After being abducted from his home world and sent to Earth, Howard the Duck eventually became part of the Collector’s collection, earning a spot as one of his most prized pieces. A master of Quack-Fu, Howard can hold his own against some of Marvel’s toughest fighters, and he’s even received a few lessons in the mystic arts from Doctor Strange.

Howard the Duck is one the weirdest Marvel characters to appear in the MCU, so why not bring that same eccentric energy to Marvel Rivals? Jeff the Shark is one of the game’s most beloved characters, and there’s a good chance Howard would have the same kind of impact.

Goose is a Monstrous Alien That Takes the Shape of an Adorable Cat

First Appeared in Captain Marvel

Cats aren’t that strange, right? What about an alien disguised as a cat that shoots tentacles from its mouth? After the death of its original owner, Goose the Flerken became entangled with Carol Danvers and Nick Fury and helped them save Skrull refugees. Even though Goose scratched and infected Fury’s eye, he reluctantly agreed to take the creature in as a pet.

Goose’s abilities are as wild as they sound. Thanks to an entire pocket dimension inside its belly, Goose can shapeshift and store objects, as seen in Captain Marvel when it swallows the Tesseract. While Goose might be a newer character and challenging to implement in Marvel Rivals, fans would be thrilled to see this cuddly Flerken join the roster
