In Marvel Comics, Richard Rider’s Nova
represents the Nova Corps as a galactic cop with the power to traverse space in the blink of an eye while clad in a signature set of armor marked by a red starburst logo. Only seen as a group of cosmic law enforcers in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film, Richard’s singular version of Nova hasn’t been seen in the MCU thus far, with a new cosplay showing that he needs to be inducted as soon as possible.
A cosplay shared on Instagram by @namorcosplay, this account is chock-full of incredible homemade costumes that focus on bringing to life characters from both Marvel’s live-action comic book universes, with each design topping the last in terms of the Hollywood-level effort put forth for fans to enjoy.
Not passing up the chance to cosplay as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Namor, @namorcosplay has also created and worn costumes of Doctor Doom, Baron Zemo, Guardian of the Galaxy’s Ronan the Accuser and Adam Warlock, The Eternals’ Ikaris, and more, showing that with the proper commitment and dedication, real-world superhero magic is achievable.
Richard Rider’s Nova Deserves His MCU Debut in Stunning Cosplay Clips
Cosplay Design by @namorcosplay
Introduced in 1976’s The Man Called Nova #1 by Marv Wolfman and John Buscema, Richard Rider’s superhero origin sees him chosen by a dying Rhomann Dey to join the ranks of an intergalactic police force known as the Nova Corps. Commanding the power of the Nova Force, Richard wears a stylish Centurion suit that acts as his life-support system while traveling across space and helps him keep in check his incredible energy absorption and redirection powers. Still not an official MCU hero just yet, @namorcosplay proves that Nova’s eventual jump to the live-action space can work without any issue.

Wolverine Upgrades His Healing Factor with the Nova Force, Giving Him a New Immunity
Wolverine just became Marvel Comics’ all-new Nova, and with that came a pretty significant upgrade to his healing factor, giving him a new immunity.
Clips filmed by @josh_thedirector, @namorcosplay nails what makes Nova’s design so great by giving the character a streamlined version of his iconic blue and gold getup, with sharp shoulder accents, interlocking back and chest armor, hand gauntlets, large belt, a smooth helmet design with all-white eyes, and multiple power discs on his body and wrists finishing this live-action look with style. Shot walking down a corridor of bright lights that race around him as he saunters towards the camera, @namorcosplay’s costume reflects said light in a dazzling way, with his on-point Richard Rider impression sealing the cosplay deal perfectly.
Comic-Accurate Nova Cosplay Shows What Hero the MCU Is Missing
Complimented by @foggyknight14 with a supportive “Too good man they should just cast you now,” it stands to reason that a lot of what @namorcosplay does here translating Richard’s comic look into the real world will hold when Nova makes his proper MCU debut — specifically, the way @namorcosplay designed Nova’s golden Nova Corps helmet, piercing white eyes and glowing energy disc-imbued chest armor. Richard Rider’s Nova will get his time to shine in the MCU when his still-in-development Disney+ show eventually premieres, but until that time comes, @namorcosplaydoes doing the character justice is a great taste of what’s to come.
