The Blade movie featuring Mahershala Ali, might be in development limbo after Marvel removed the project from its 2025 slate. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see any iteration of the vampire hunter in the franchise. Earlier this year, Wesley Snipes reprised his role as Eric Brooks / Blade from the Blade movie trilogy (1998–2004) in Deadpool & Wolverine. And now, from a recent trailer, it seems that another version of Blade will appear in one of the upcoming MCU shows, Marvel Zombies.
Marvel recently put out a Disney+ trailer featuring footage from six upcoming shows, Deadpool & Wolverine, and What If…? Season 3.
Among the upcoming releases is Marvel Zombies, an animated series slated to debut on Disney+ sometime in October 2025. It’s in that segment of Marvel’s Disney+ trailer that Blade appears, wearing armor. The character will reportedly perform a Moon Knight-esque role in the What If…? spin-off. This is similar to what Oscar Isaac’s Marc Spector does in the Moon Knight miniseries and the mainstream MCU.
Marvel Zombies is the third animated MCU show set to come out next year, after Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Eyes of Wakanda. Comic book creator and Robot Chicken writer-director Zeb Wells is developing Marvel Zombies from the namesake comic book series by Mark Millar, Greg Land, and Robert Kirkman.
The plot takes place in an alternate world, originally introduced in What If…? Season 1 Episode 5, “What If… Zombies?!.” In it, many heroes and villains have become zombies, while the remnants of humanity must fight them to survive. It’s unclear who will voice Blade in Marvel Zombies. However, we do know that Iman Vellani will voice Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. Back in November 2023, she confirmed that she had finished her voiceover work on the project.
Aside from Blade and Ms. Marvel, Marvel Zombies will feature iterations of Hawkeye, Captain America, Kate Bishop, Wanda Maximoff, Red Guardian, Captain Marvel, Yelena Belova, and more.
Marvel Zombies is an MCU Phase Six project and will have four episodes.
