Did you know that Brie Larson was an Arana fan?

Did you grow up reading comic books? Guess what, you have something in common with Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson. Speaking to a crowd at Fan Expo Denver, Larson reminisced about her upbringing as a comic book reader.

“I was into comic books when I was younger. My family would play this game around the holidays called quarters. I think you would start with three quarters, and that was how you placed your bet, and once you’re out, you’re out. When I won, I would have a pocket full of quarters, and I would go to the comic book store. I was always amazed at how many different ways of strength and all these different worlds.”

In case you’re wondering – yes, Brie Larson kept most of these comics.

“I still have all of those comics that I collected when I was a kid. That was something that always mattered to me. Getting this opportunity of a lifetime, now my understanding is much deeper, and I just think about it a lot.”

Larson then spoke about her favorite characters and storylines.

“I loved Wonder Woman growing up. Wonder Woman was huge.”

She acknowledged that was a weird statement coming from Captain Marvel, but there is room in her heart for DC and Marvel.

“It’s not one or the other it turns out. You can love everything. It’s actually really cool to like a lot of things. I loved Wonder Woman.”

“There was another one. I believe her name was Arana. It was like a Spider-Girl. It was so good. There was also this Catwoman one that happened where it was like her in Paris.”

It’s been quite a journey for Brie Larson, from comic book reader, to a cinematic superhero. That’s one origin story I can get behind.
