Marvel Comics has teased a new mashup in the What If…? universe that shows a brand-new group of characters making up the iconic Fantastic Four. A new one-shot comic titled Marvel & Disney: What If…? Mickey & Friends Became The Fantastic Four will be released in early 2025.
Steve Behling and Riccardo Secchi wrote the new one-shot story which sees Mickey and Friends gaining the remarkable powers of The Fantastic Four. Lorenzo Pastrovicchio provides interior art and the main cover, with Phil Noto and Chrissie Zullo providing variant cover art. Marvel unveiled all three new covers for the one-shot, which the publisher teases will pay homage to Stan Lee and Jack Kirby‘s Fantastic Four #1 from 1961, which launched the age of superheroes. What If…? Mickey & Friends Became The Fantastic Four goes on sale Jan 8.

Disney Characters Become Marvel Superheroes in Newly Released Comics
Throughout 2024, the world of Marvel has had plenty of Disney crossover stories, with a series of What If…? one-shots bringing Mickey Mouse and his friends into the classic Marvel Comics world. Minnie Mouse stars in one of the upcoming What If…? stories, stealing the spotlight as she becomes Captain Marvel. Releasing in November, Marvel & Disney’s What If…? Minnie Became Captain Marvel puts a unique twist on Carol Danvers’ origin story, re-imagining it with Minnie Mouse in the lead role.

One of the most iconic X-Men is beginning to go down the same dangerous path that led his predecessor to become an outright villain.
Donald Duck has also been the star of two Disney and Marvel crossover stories. One story saw Donald Duck harness the power of Thor, using his new abilities on a wild adventure. Earlier in the year, Donald also became Wolverine in another What If…? story loosely inspired by the classic Old Man Logan storyline.
