Doreen Green, better known as Squirrel Girl, has captured the attention of many thanks to her addition in Marvel Rivals. If you hadn’t heard of her before playing the game, that’s OK. She was part of a new wave of superheroes that were created during the 90s and has made sporadic appearances in the comics.

While there were many fans who were on the fence about her, she ended up getting her own comic book series and, since then, has been part of some well-known teams. Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Vol. 2

A Fun Continuation Of The First Volume.

There are a few places you could start reading about Squirrel Girl, so why not start with one of her solo series? Volume 2 picks up after her initial series and follows her time as part of various teams.

Ryan North has done an amazing job at making Squirrel Girl a great character, and this volume continues what the first one showcased. Issue 43 is also a minor key in which we get to see a brand-new costume that feels like it would be perfect for Marvel Rivals as a winter skin.

Nanny To The Avengers

Being A Nanny Is An Important Part Of The Team, Kinda?

Squirrel Girl has done many things in the comics, and being a nanny is on that list. She spent a little bit of time being a supporting cast character in the New Avengers, which is a street-level Avengers team.

While she only gets a few panels of speaking time with a few mentions here and there, she ends up becoming a nanny for Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. The appearances are very short but fun, and it is great to see her interacting with other characters, like Spider-Man, for example.

The Avengers have had many iterations of the team over the years, but what happens when A.I.M. decides to put together an Avengers team? Well, you get the U.S. Avengers, which is meant to be the most patriotic super-group ever.

The first issue of the series introduces us to the main characters who lead the team, which are Citizen V (Sunspot), Cannonball, Red Hulk, Iron Patriot, Danielle Cage, Enigma, and Squirrel Girl. This series is a quick read with only twelve issues.

If you have Marvel Unlimited, then you have access to Marvel’s full catalog of comics, which includes Squirrel Girl Infinity Comic #1. This exclusive comic is an epilogue to the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl series.

Without too many spoilers, Doreen starts a podcast series and looks to the Marvel Universe for help with being a hero. There are also quite a few exclusive comics on Marvel Unlimited that feature Tippy, Squirrel Girl’s companion, in some very fun animal adventures, including one with a very loveable Jeff the Land Shark.

If you love watching Marvel content but haven’t had the chance to check out some of the shows or animations, then now is a perfect time to do so. Marvel Rising brought together new and beloved characters for younger fans and brought the team to the comics.

Squirrel Girl and Ms. Marvel are the dynamic duo who team up with America Chavez, Ghost-Spider, Patriot, and Inferno to take on missions. They are led by Daisy Johnson, aka Quake, and even have the likes of Captain Marvel help them out on certain missions.

Great Lakes Avengers

Perhaps The Unluckiest Team When It Comes To Team Names.

The Great Lakes Avengers, or G.L.A., are another version of the Avengers that were formed during the time when the Avengers were disassembled. This was more of a parody team of the Avengers and wasn’t taken too seriously.

The first issue of this four-issue miniseries is the second appearance of Squirrel Girl in the comics. She is recruited to the G.L.A., which consists of Mr. Immortal, Dinah Soar, Big Bertha, Flatman, Doorman, and Grasshopper. The team also had some terrible luck with all the names they decided to use, going through several team names before landing on Great Lakes X-Men.

Squirrel Girl is a very powerful character, and there’s a reason she’s called Unbeatable. During the GLX-Mas Special, we get to see just how powerful and unbeatable she really is by taking on some of the most powerful villains.

In this Holiday Special, we see her defeat not one but three major villains: M.O.D.O.K., Galactus, and Thanos. Yes, you read all of those names correctly. While it’s been revealed that she beat the clone of Thanos, and it is still a highly debated topic, beating these powerful villains is no easy task.

The Run That Made Squirrel Girl A Fan Favorite Character.

One of the best places to really get to know Squirrel Girl is from her first solo series, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. Ryan North and Erica Henderson did a fantastic job of bringing this character to life.

In this series, we see Doreen trying to quit the life of being a superhero while she attends college, but we all know how hard that is for superheroes. This series would also establish the costume and humor that we know and love about Squirrel Girl.

A Memorable Debut By Defeating Doctor Doom.

If you would like to see where it all started, then check out Marvel Super-Heroes #8. This issue from 1992 is the first appearance of Squirrel Girl and should be on the radar for any collector, especially if you want to collect Squirrel Girl comics.

This comic showcased fill-in or backup stories for other stories or Annuals, but this helped bring in a brand-new character at the time, which would be Squirrel Girl. In the story, Iron Man is testing a new invention when he meets Squirrel Girl after she has an encounter with Doctor Doom. Later in the story, she ends up defeating Doctor Doom and earning praise from Iron Man.
