5 MCU Heroes Are Targeted By Kingpin In Brutal Daredevil: Born Again Art

New MCU fan art imagines Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again adapting one of Marvel Comics’ most brutal and game-changing storylines, with five powerful heroes being targeted by Wilson Fisk’s Kingpin. Following the cancelation of Marvel Television’s Daredevil series and the Defenders Saga, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio’s futures as Matt Murdock’s Daredevil and Wilson Fisk, respectively, were left unclear, though both have since reprised their iconic roles in the MCU proper. Marvel Spotlight’s Echo marked their most recent appearances, and teased the live-action adaptation of a major Marvel Comics storyline that could change the landscape of the street-level MCU forever.

Echo’s post-credits scene teased Wilson Fisk’s future as the Mayor of New York City, hinting at Marvel Studios bringing Marvel Comics’ Devil’s Reign storyline into the live-action MCU. New fan art shared by Hazzaa Jarrar suggests that this storyline could unfold in the MCU’s upcoming Daredevil: Born Again.

The art depicts Wilson Fisk’s Kingpin in possession of Daredevil’s bloody helmet, suggesting he’s defeated the Man Without Fear. On top of this, Kingpin sits in front of four screens depicting Jessica Jones, Frank Castle’s Punisher, Peter Parker’s Spider-Man and Kate Bishop, suggesting they are also targets for the MCU’s street-level supervillain.

Marvel Comics’ Devil’s Reign storyline ran between December 2021 and May 2022, and saw Wilson Fisk elected as Mayor of New York City. Kingpin used this new political power to outlaw vigilantism, making many prominent superheroes outright criminals. To enforce his new laws, Kingpin established Thunderbolts units to track down and apprehend notable heroes, including the likes of Moon Knight, the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and Daredevil, among many others. Fisk uses the mind-controlling powers of Kilgrave to influence the residents of New York, but is ultimately ousted and incarcerated, with Luke Cage stepping up to become the city’s new Mayor.

Wilson Fisk’s evolution into the Mayor of New York City has been rumored, but Echo’s post-credits scene seems to confirm this direction. Marvel Studios has hinted at Netflix’s Defenders Saga being canon to the MCU, which increases the number of street-level heroes considerably. This means that Kingpin’s actions as Mayor would affect a huge number of heroes, most notably Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Moon Knight, Kate Bishop, the Punisher and perhaps even Captain America. An adaptation of Devil’s Reign in Daredevil: Born Again could make the series one of the MCU’s most important and action-packed projects yet.
