Marvel’s next animated Spider-Man has officially met his match, and it’s all thanks to the latest iteration of Enforcers.

While the budding young hero of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #2 is still getting acclimated to his newfound powers and high-tech accouterments, his enemies are busy plotting to take him down with wanton regard for his or anyone else’s safety. As it turns out, Spider-Man openly proclaiming the neighborhood as his own is more than enough to set off Silvermane’s explosive temper, so much so that he has called in an elite team of Enforcers to deal with the problem. Worse still, there is no way that Spider-Man could possibly hold his own against this villainous trio, and they are already well aware of that fact for themselves.

Consisting of Jackson Brice, Daniel Brito, and Raymond Bloch, better known as Montana, Fancy Dan, and Ox, respectively, the Enforcers have long been counted among Spider-Man’s most dangerous street-level enemies. Introduced all the way back in 1963’s Amazing Spider-Man #10 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the Enforcers originally worked under Frederick Foswell, aka the Big Man. When Spider-Man took down the Big Man’s operation, the Enforcers quickly teamed up with other foes of the Wall-Crawler, including Green Goblin and Sandman, all while also crossing paths with heroes ranging from Daredevil to the Human Torch.

Like the Enforcers, Silvio Manfredi, aka Silvermane, is a classic Spider-Man villain with origins stretching back to 1969’s Amazing Spider-Man #73 by Stan Lee, John Romita Jr., and John Buscema. In his youth, Silvio worked as a runner and minor muscle for the infamous criminal organization known as the Maggia. Over the years, Silvio curried enough favor with the Maggia that he was on track to become a prominent member in his own right, only for a stint in prison to cost him everything he had built. Upon his release, Silvermane doubled down on his efforts, eventually rising through the ranks of New York City’s criminal underworld to become one of its most feared gang lords.

Peter Parker Just Walked Away From Being Spider-Man

The world just lost its greatest Spider-Man, and there is no telling what it will take to bring him back from such an early retirement.

Marvel Comics’ Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man serves as the official prequel to the upcoming animated series of the same name. Apart from villains such as Silvermane and the Enforcers, the series has introduced new takes on iconic Marvle heroes, including Nico Minoru. Only recently, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man head writer Jeff Trammell opened up about what fans can expect in terms of the other classic Marvel characters set to be reimagined for the series, explaining that the creative team has “the privilege of following the movies and shows, so we pay homage to them as well as the comics.” Trammell continued, “We build on things we’ve seen before but present them in new ways. We use those expectations to our advantage and turn things away from where you might expect. I’m excited for people to see new twists on classic characters, and I’m also excited to introduce characters that aren’t normally featured in Spider-Man stories.”
