10 X-Men Fans Want to See Added to Marvel Rivals

Mutants are humans born with a genetic defect called the X-gene, which gives them incredible superpowers, and the X-Men are made up of some of the strongest mutants on the planet. While Marvel Rivals does include the likes of Storm and Wolverine already, there are some important members of the team still missing from the game. Being such a beloved part of Marvel history, there are sure to be plenty more X-Men added to the roster.

There are countless possibilities for the developers to make extremely fun sets of moves with the powers and abilities of some members of the team. There’s also massive potential for some awesome team-up abilities when more of the X-Men are put in the game.

Piotr Rasputin lived on a Soviet farm when he was younger and grew up watching his brother become a cosmonaut and later a supervillain. Piotr discovered his own latent mutant abilities when he saved his younger sister from a runaway tractor. Afterward, he was recruited by Professor Xavier to join the second iteration of the X-Men. Colossus would be a great addition to the Marvel Rivals roster.

Since he’s a mutant with the ability to turn his entire body into a ridiculously strong and durable type of steel, it makes sense for Colossus to be added to Marvel Rivals as a vanguard. When he transforms, he is granted superhuman strength, and his skin is more effective and resistant than any armor known to man. There are certain tanks that, under the right circumstances, will stay alive for the entire match, and Colossus would absolutely be one of them.

Able to Copy the Abilities of Anybody She Touches, Rogue Can Be Extremely Dangerous

First Appeared in Avengers Annual #10

Originally portrayed as a supervillain, Rogue eventually switched sides and joined the X-Men, remaining one of their most important members to this day. She has consistently struggled with accepting and controlling her powerful mutant abilities, viewing them as a curse for the longest time. Rogue has always been a fan-favorite X-Men, and hopefully, players won’t have to wait long for her to be added to Marvel Rivals as a playable character.

There are plenty of copycat characters in the Marvel universe that can imitate an enemy’s looks or powers. However, Rogue has the ability to absorb not only the powers of anyone she touches but also their lifeforce and memories. While it would be fun to play as her, if given her exact powers, Rogue would be an extremely overpowered, almost broken character in Marvel Rivals.

Jean Grey Is One of the Most Powerful Mutants in Marvel

First Appeared in X-Men #1

Jean Grey isn’t just the strongest female X-Men member; she might be the strongest of all the X-Men. After her powers were traumatically awakened by witnessing the death of her best friend, Jean studied under Professor Charles Xavier, who mentored her and taught her to control her abilities. She was the last to join the original X-Men team but was clearly the strongest among them. An omega-level mutant, she is the conduit for the Phoenix Force, a universal force of life that grants her cosmic powers. Jean also possesses telekinetic and telepathic abilities that surpass those of Charles Xavier.

Jean Grey would have to be completely nerfed in Marvel Rivals, but she could be a phenomenal duelist with mechanics similar to the Scarlet Witch. While there are very few X-Men in Marvel Rivals currently, adding Jean Grey could open up exciting possibilities for team-up abilities.

Cyclops Would Be an Incredibly Overpowered Duelist

First Appeared in X-Men #1

Scott Summers witnessed his parents die in a plane crash as a young boy and was sent to live at an orphanage. When his mutant abilities finally manifested, he ran away and wandered around for some time before being taken in by Charles Xavier. Professor X mentored Scott, teaching him how to control his powers and eventually appointing him as the first member of the original X-Men.​​​​​​​

Powerful, focused beams of energy constantly emanate from his eyes with tremendous force entirely beyond his control. He can only focus these energy beams with a ruby-quartz lens. While lacking control of his powers during the early days of his career, Cyclops has since been able to master his optic blasts. Being able to shoot lasers from your eyes is something everyone has thought of at some point, and doing it as Cyclops in Marvel Rivals wouldn’t be any less cool.

Mystique Can Shapeshift and Sneak into the Enemy’s Backline

First Appeared in Ms. Marvel #16

Mystique’s true age is unknown, and little is known about her early years, but she’s always played a significant role in shaping the course of mutantkind. She even rose through the ranks of the United States Department of Defense to steal military secrets and weaponry for her own ambitions. While she only briefly joins the X-Men, Mystique is still a memorable and beloved character that fans would love to see in Rivals.

Unlike Rogue, Mystique can mimic only appearances and voices, not powers or abilities. She often operates undercover, impersonating others, which could inspire her moveset. Mystique might take the form of an enemy player in Marvel Rivals, sneaking behind their lines to create chaos and confusion. While she would likely excel as a duelist, her kit could be reworked to make her an effective strategist.

With His Strength and Intellect, Beast Would Be a Destructive Vanguard

First Appeared in X-Men #1

Hank McCoy is a highly intelligent scientist with several degrees and scientific awards. His father worked at a nuclear power plant and was subjected to a substantial amount of radiation, which likely caused Hanks’ mutation. The full extent of his mutant abilities didn’t start appearing until adolescence, which made high school an uncomfortable experience. Like so many others of his kind, Beast eventually began studying under Professor Charles Xavier and was recruited into the X-Men.​​​​​​​

A hulking, ape-like mutant, the Beast isn’t just known for his power but for his incredible level of intelligence. He’s able to lift over ten tons and has enhanced speed and durability, making Beast an excellent candidate for the vanguard class in Marvel Rivals. He would likely be a melee-focused character with movement similar to the Hulk and a healing or rage ability similar to Venom and Wolverine.

Iceman Could Be One of the Most Fun Marvel Rivals Characters

First Appeared in X-Men #1

Bobby Drake’s powers didn’t manifest until his teens when a local bully attacked him and his girlfriend. In defense, Bobby encased the bully in a block of ice. Following the incident, the sheriff jailed him to protect him from an angry mob. Cyclops and Professor Xavier later broke him out and convinced him to join the School for Gifted Youngsters, making him the second official member of the X-Men.

Iceman has been a staple since the Silver Age of comics and is one of the original X-Men. He’s widely recognized thanks to his frequent appearances in various Spider-Man and X-Men films, games, and media. It’s not a question of if Iceman will join Marvel Rivals, but when, with fans hoping it’s sooner rather than later. His ice-based powers make him an immense threat and give him a lot of potential to be a really fun and entertaining character.

Nearly Every Marvel Fan Will Want to See Gambit Added as a Duelist

First Appeared in Uncanny X-Men #266

Before joining the X-Men, Remy LeBeau was raised by the Thieves Guild, where he was known as the White Devil and was prophesied to end the conflict between the Thieves and the Assassin’s Guild. He spent years as a thief for hire, traveling the world and crossing paths with a variety of heroes and villains. At one point, he even served as Apocalypse’s Horseman of Death.​​​​​​​

Gambit has a devoted fanbase eager to see the ragin’ Cajun added to Marvel Rivals. After the success of his recent cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine, Gambit might experience a resurgence, which means he could wind up in Marvel Rivals soon. His powers allow him to charge kinetic energy into his signature playing cards and other small objects, causing them to explode or become strong enough to cut through steel.

Able to Teleport Anywhere, Nightcrawler Will Be a Massive Nuisance to Some Players

First Appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1

Nightcrawler is a powerful and dangerous member of the X-Men. Although he is Mystique’s son, he was discovered after birth by a sorceress who took him to a traveling circus, where she worked as a fortune-teller. Raised by circus performers, Nightcrawler enjoyed a happy childhood. However, when his foster brother went on a rampage and killed several children, Nightcrawler was blamed. As an angry mob of villagers prepared to attack him, Charles Xavier intervened and offered him a place on the X-Men.

With his superhuman agility and teleportation abilities, Nightcrawler could be an efficient duelist in Marvel Rivals who could infiltrate the enemy’s backline and target their healers, similar to Iron Fist. Nightcrawler can also stick to and crawl across various surfaces, and his prehensile tail can support his full body weight, so he could function as a weapon or tool in certain scenarios.

Professor X is the Face of Mutantkind and Deserves a Spot on the Rivals Roster

After surviving a tumultuous childhood and graduating from college at eighteen, Charles Xavier spent the following years traveling the world and making a name for himself as a geneticist and psychologist. In the comics, he winds up paralyzed in several different ways and eventually goes on to open the School for Gifted Youngsters and form the X-Men. Any comic book fan would love to see Professor Xavier added to Marvel Rivals.

Professor Charles Xavier is an omega-level mutant with some of the most powerful telepathic abilities in all of Marvel. Charles has a genius-level intellect and is always trying to strive for the greater good of the world. It may be a bit hard for him to move around the map in his chair, but Professor X would definitely be a fantastic duelist or strategist. Maybe he would be able to grant buffs to his allies or nerfs to the opposing team, similar to Zenyatta in Overwatch.
