It’s official; Stranger Things star Sadie Sink will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an undisclosed role in Spider-Man 4. Of course, nothing has been said about the role she will play, but the fandom has some ideas based on the comics and everything they know about the future of the MCU.
From multiversal versions of characters who already debuted in the MCU to characters from the comics who will join this cinematic universe just yet, all bets are off. Sink, a rising star, will surely do a great job regardless of the role. However, fans really want to know more, since her presence will likely alter the MCU forever.
Julia Carpenter Debuted in Secret Wars
Sadie could become the first ever Spider-Woman in the MCU if she portrays Julia Carpenter. Granted, Sydney Sweeney already played the role in Madame Web. However, this film flopped hard enough for Marvel Studios to try a different version than Sony, giving the character a second chance.
Carpenter, who was injected with spider venom and exotic plant extracts, debuted in the first Secret Wars series. Here, she allied with Spider-Man and the Avengers. Since the MCU is moving towards Avengers: Secret Wars, this isn’t such a farfetched theory. Of course, since Sink is a big name in Hollywood already, her cast as Carpenter would only make sense if she stays around for a while, maybe become Arachne or even the MCU’s own Madame Web.
Jessica Drew & Peter Parker Could Be Closer in the MCU
When Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, was only a kid, she was poisoned by the uranium in her community. Her father, a clever scientist working with Herbert Wyndham, the High Evolutionary, allowed his partner to save her through a genetic experiment that gave her spider-like abilities. With the High Evolutionary’s appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, this could be the trigger for Spider-Woman’s debut in the future.

10 Best Marvel Superheroines, Ranked By Solo Issue Count
Marvel’s legacy numbering easily highlights the most prolific female heroes, from Captain Marvel and Jessica Jones to a few that may surprise fans.
Despite sharing a lot, Spider-Woman and Spider-Man aren’t that close. They are work friends at best, but this doesn’t mean she can’t become Spidey’s ally — especially right now when he’s basically alone in the world. Since Jessica and Sadie Sink don’t look a lot alike, this is honestly unlikely compared with other options. However, there’s still plenty to say for both heroes and the MCU may actually explore it in Spider-Man 4.
Mayday Parker Could Hint at Another Spider-Man’s Fate
Everyone thinks of Spider-Man as a teenage superhero. In fact, he’s the teenage superhero. Given this, the idea of giving him a daughter feels farfetched. But what if it was a different Peter? Different realities bear different circumstances. May Parker, Peter and Mary Jane’s daughter, is a superhero too on Earth-982, known as Spider-Girl.
Of course, Tom Holland wouldn’t be the father, but a different Peter. For example, Peter-Two, from the Raimi trilogy. Sink looks the part. She’s a red-haired, green-eyed young woman who could easily be the daughter of Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. Spider-Girl’s becoming canon would imply Peter and MJ lived happily ever after, giving the Raimi fans closure after the fourth film was canceled.
With the MCU delving every time deeper into the concept of the multiverse, it’s only a matter of time before Earth-1610, the Ultimate universe, makes an appearance. On this Earth, Spider-Man dates Kitty Pryde, so Sadie Sink could end up becoming Ultimate Shadowcat — also known as Shroud or even Spider-Girl.
Given Tom Holland and Zendaya’s amazing chemistry, everyone is rooting for MJ and Peter. However, the romance between Kitty and Peter could be an adorable but temporary storyline. If Marvel Studios chooses to lean towards a more romantic plot, Peter’s fling with Kitty could be what truly reminds him who his true love is.
Aunt May Could Return as a Younger Woman
Since Spider-Man 4 is scheduled to premiere in between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, it’s highly unlikely Spidey’s new adventure in the MCU will be a street-level one. Instead, he will face the consequences of Doom’s actions, likely in a different reality full of alternate versions of the people he knows and loves.

22-Years-Later, This Spider-Man Movie Character is Still the Best Variant (and It’s Not Spider-Man)
Spider-Man movies have shown many great characters over the years one of the best has beaten all other versions for two decades.
The fandom jokes that Aunt May looks younger every time she’s on the screen and this time it may be the last straw. Sadie Sink could make it into the MCU as a younger version of Aunt May, either through a flashback or even better, an actual time-traveling, reality-changing adventure. Since Peter had to say goodbye to his aunt during Spider-Man: No Way Home, this could make for an emotional reunion.
Peter May Meet an Alternate Version Of MJ
Sadie Sink is a redhead and so is the love of Spider-Man’s life in the comics: Mary Jane Watson. Given this, many fans have jumped immediately to assume the MCU will introduce her. This may be true to an extent, but everyone considering this has forgotten the MCU already has its own MJ: Michelle Jones.
With Spider-Man 4 likely taking place in one of the many Secret Wars battleworlds, this movie is surely going to be very different from the three last Spider-Man films. The alternate reality trope will give Marvel Studios the possibility to explore more variants. This means Sink could be MJ, but she won’t be the MCU’s MJ. Instead, she could be an alternate version — maybe even one with superpowers.
Gwen Stacy Would Make Peter Question His Abilities Or Become His Best Ally
With Gwen Stacy becoming such a popular character, Marvel Studios has taken way too long to introduce her to the MCU. Spider-Man 4 may be the perfect chance. Sadie Sink may not be blond, but this can be easily fixed through the magic of Hollywood so she becomes the first live-action version of Spider-Gwen.
Another option would be to have her be a non-powered girl. Following Spider-Man: No Way Home, the MCU Spider-Man knows another Peter Parker who failed to save a Gwen Stacy. If Sink were to play this character, Holland’s Peter would probably spiral. Especially considering he just left everyone and everything he knows behind, Spider-Man needs a win, and losing Gwen would ruin him forever — even if she isn’t his love interest.
Peter May Meet Felicia Hardy While Working Solo
Following the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter is alone in New York City, dealing with street crime. This is the most natural scenario for him to meet Felicia Hardy. Also known as Black Cat, Hardy is a cat burglar with whom Peter has a short but complicated affair followed by a crime-fighting team-up.
With Peter on his own, without MJ or Ned, it would make sense for him to end up in a toxic romance with Black Cat even if she’s a villain. Of course, this wouldn’t last longer than the movie, but it would symbolize Spider-Man’s current crisis, as well as a certain loss of innocence for Peter.
Jean Grey’s Appearance Would Mean the X-Men Are Close
In December 2024, Jeff Sneider from The InSneider shared that Marvel Studios was considering Sadie Sink to portray Jean Grey in the MCU. However, neither Sink nor a Marvel Studios official spokesman commented on the situation. With the recent news that Sink will join Spider-Man 4, some fans are wondering if she’s actually playing the powerful telepath.

The MCU Can Do Justice to the Dark Phoenix Saga
With the X-Men becoming part of the MCU, Marvel Studios can finally properly adapt The Dark Phoenix Saga in a way that Fox never could.
It would be strange for Marvel Studios to introduce such a prominent X-Men character in a Spider-Man film, but the MCU has been quite unorthodox with their mutants so far, so it isn’t impossible. Of course, given Sink’s age and the fact that Sony adapted the Phoenix Saga very recently, the MCU would need to give her a completely new storyline in order not to waste the character.
Angelica Jones Could Be a Central Part Of Spidey’s New Life
Now that everyone forgot who Peter Parker is, the superhero has been forced to start a new life from scratch. Maybe during his crime fighting adventures he will make some new friends, like Angelica Jones aka Firestar, leading to a live-action adaptation of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.
Sink could play Firestar and, just like in the cartoon, become Peter’s new best friend together with Bobby Drake aka Iceman. The film could follow them as they go through college freshman year together while dealing with a superpowerful threat that will lead them to reveal their powers to each other. Overall, it would be nice to see Spider-Man’s story reworked into a team-up like it happened to Captain Marvel.
