During Marvel’s Ultimate Invasion event, an evil version of Reed Richards, known as The Maker, used time travel to create a new universe without superheroes called Earth-6160, known to readers as Marvel’s Ultimate Universe. Despite The Maker’s careful planning of the universe with the help of his council of supervillains, hope always finds a way, and the few remaining heroes emerge.

Across the four titles currently in the Ultimates line, numerous heroes have been introduced in the war against The Maker, with new characters constantly being revealed. As the world continues to expand with Ultimate Wolverine (by Chris Condon, Alessandro Cappuccio, Bryan Valenza, and Cory Petit) in 2025, readers won’t have to wait long to see what other heroes and villains are waiting to make their debut.

Marvel’s next team of Ultimates have finally arrived, but not all of them are as ready to save the world as their fellow newly recruited superheroes.

Ultimate Black Widow Brings A New Genre Of Espionage

The Black Widows have an entire network of assassins across the globe

In Marvel’s main Earth-616, the Black Widow Ops program is a covert organization designed to train the world’s most deadly female spies. After escaping the program, Natasha kept her code name of the Black Widow and has since reformed into one of the world’s greatest heroes and spies, being part of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Avengers and numerous other superhero teams.

Black Widow’s has become a staple of Marvel Comics, and bringing them into the Ultimate line would be a great way to expand the world further. The Black Widow Program is a byproduct of both the Weapon X and Winter Soldier programs, making Ultimate Wolverine a perfect opportunity to bring the Black Widows into the fold.

Ultimate Ghost Rider Could Reimagine the Spirit of Vengeance

Ghost Rider blazes the trail for the supernatural

Ghost Rider was Marvel’s first supernatural character, and since his debut in 1968, The Ghost Rider has hunted down demons, the Devil, and even God in its mission for vengeance. While Johnny Blaze was Marvel’s first Ghost Rider, the Spirit of Vengeance has taken many hosts throughout its long history in the Marvel Universe. Just like the main Marvel Universe, Ghost Rider could blaze the trail for the supernatural world of the Ultimates.

While titles like Ultimate Black Panther and Peach Momoko’s Ultimate X-Men have eluded to the more supernatural elements of the world, it is still an unexplored area. The spirit of vengeance would work seamlessly in the world already created by Bryan Hilland Stefano Caselli in Ultimate Black Panther and would fully open the doors for other supernatural fan-favorite characters such as Blade or Doctor Voodoo.

Ultimate Deadpool Is Inevitable

Deadpool can’t help but make an appearance

The Merc-with-the-Mouth has long been a favorite among comic readers. With the massive success of Ryan Reynolds’s Deadpool films, the character has been propelled to one of the most popular and recognizable characters in the Marvel Franchise. Deadpool’s popularity and ability to break the fourth wall and insert himself into different franchises make his inclusion in this new universe nearly impossible.

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Wolverine & Deadpool’s Relationship in the Comics

Even outside of their hit movie now in theaters, Deadpool and Wolverine have a long and complex history that deserves recognition.

Similar to the Black Widows, Ultimate Wolverine would be a perfect way to introduce Deadpool, given the characters’ long history together, and to capitalize on the popularity of 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine film. Including the merc with the mouth would also be an excellent opportunity for a new writer to come in, deliver a different take on Deadpool that fans have never seen before, and add something unique to the line.

Ultimate Blue Marvel Could Tip The Power Scales

One of the most powerful characters in all of Marvel could save The Ultimates

Adam Brasher of Earth-616 is a scientist and veteran who became Blue Marvel after an antimatter explosion turned him into a living antimatter reactor with incredible superhuman strength and abilities. Blue Marvel is one of the most powerful heroes of the Marvel Universe and has gone toe-to-toe with beings such as the Beyonder, The One Above All, and the Phoenix Force.

The Ultimate Universe has yet to explore the cosmic side of the world and what powers lie beyond the stars. In a universe designed to prevent powerful heroes, Blue Marvel would completely tip the power scales of the world and be an essential member in the war against The Maker and his Council. Considering how massively overpowered The Maker’s Council is compared to The Ultimates, Blue Marvel would be a perfect complement to the team and bring in a powerhouse character who also has experience with their powers.

6

Cloak and Dagger Could Be An Unexpected Hit

An unexpected duo to bring balance to the Ultimates

Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen are one of the most interesting yet underutilized superhero duos in Marvel Comics. Possessing the power of light and darkness between them, Cloak and Dagger’s powers and abilities are much more than some give them credit for. However, the duo recently got their well-deserved spotlight with their inclusion in 2022’s Savage Avengers, 2024’s Blood Hunt event, and the hit video game Marvel Rivals.

Fans clearly demand more Cloak and Dagger, whether comics or other media forms. Bringing them into the Ultimate Universe would be an incredible opportunity to capitalize on their current popularity and deliver a new series for fans waiting for a new solo run. Without a current running series in the main Marvel line, Cloak and Dagger would be the only Ultimate book that lives fully in Earth-6160 and help draw a clear line between the two worlds.

Ultimate Silver Surfer Is Somewhere in The Cosmos

There are some powers outside even The Maker’s grasp

Silver Surfer, the sentinel of the spaceways, is Marvel’s premier cosmic character. Wielding the incredible Power Cosmic, the former Herald of Galactus traverses the cosmos on his indestructible surfboard in search of those needing his help. While mainly operating in space, the Surfer has involved himself many times in the affairs of humans and holds Earth and its heroes in high regard.

It’s never smooth sailing for the Silver Surfer, in this life or any other. Across the multiverse, Norrin Radd has met with several unfortunate fates.

As the Ultimates Universe begins to explore its cosmic side, the Silver Surfer undoubtedly could have a massive role in shaping the future of the universe. The Ultimates have mentioned that Galactus does exist in this Universe, which could be an early indication that the Surfer is already out there somewhere in the Universe. However, The Ultimates #8 reveals that the Galactus of Earth-6160 seeds barren planets with life rather than destroying them, which raises an interesting question of how this change would also affect the Surfer.

Ms. Marvel Is The Hero For a New Generation of Fans

A New Universe For New Heroes

First introduced in the pages of Captain Marvel #14 (by Kelly Sue DeConnick, Scott Hepburn, Gerardo and Sandoval, Andy Troy, and Joe Caramagne), Kamala Khan has transcended her beginnings as a legacy character into one of Marvel’s most prominent young heroes. Since her introduction, Kamala has been a fan favorite of the Marvel Universe, leading the Champions and able to stand side by side with legendary heroes as part of the Avengers, Inhumans, and more recently, The X-Men, with the revelation of Kamala being a mutant.

Next to Miles Morales, Kamala is one of the most successful legacy characters Marvel has introduced and has been the young point of view character for Marvel readers that Peter Parker once was. A Captain Marvel was revealed to have taken back her powers in Ultimates #1, but it is still unclear whether this was Carol Danvers, which could open the door for Kamala to enter the fold.

3

The Scarlet Witch Brings Chaos to the Ultimates

The Ultimate Sorceress Can Also Tip The Scales

Wanda Maximoff has had a long and complicated history in Marvel and is one of the most powerful magic users as the Scarlet Witch. Whether hero, villain, witch, or mutant, Wanda has moved past her labels and carved her own path into the Marvel pantheon. Able to rewrite reality at will and the living embodiment of the Dark Hold, Wanda’s powers are all but limitless and exist far beyond the physical reality of Earth-616.

With the magic elements of Earth- 6160 just beginning to be explored, there inevitably has to be a Scarlet Witch lurking somewhere, either yet to reveal themselves or already within The Makers’ ranks. No matter what side the Scarlet Witch would land, a character with mastery over probability and the inner workings of creation would be a major tip in the scales for either side.

2

Ultimate Thanos Has Been Noticeably Absent

One of Marvel’s Biggest Villains’ Debut Is Inevitable

As The Maker crafted his perfect universe, he either neutralized or brought in some of the most powerful heroes and villains known to exist, so it seems odd that one of Marvel’s most prominent villains has yet to be seen. Thanos, the Mad Titan, who has brought entire star systems into oblivion and reshaped the world with the snap of his fingers, hasn’t made his debut into the Ultimates Universe and could be the secret weapon needed for the Ultimates to defeat Maker.

The New Ultimate Universe Highlights the Importance of a Missing Marvel Team

When The Maker invaded Earth-6160 and reshaped it in his image, he removed a team from the new Ultimate Universe, making everything less fantastic.

With the massive success of the MCU’s Infinity War and End Game, Thanos has skyrocketed into a household name and one that sells comics. While the Ultimates have had no issue getting books off the shelves, bringing in a major recognizable villain to fight with or against the heroes would be a great way to provide readers with something recognizable but drastically different, sticking true to the new Ultimates format.

1

The Master of Magnetism is the Leader the Ultimates Need

Magneto may be the only one capable of taking on The Maker

Within a world filled with powerful characters, Magneto stands above as someone whose power can not be matched and one of the most complex and convicted characters in Marvel’s roster. While at times the world’s greatest villain, Magneto is unwavering in creating a better world for mutant-kind. Even with some of his more radical plans, Magneto has always led the charge for mutant liberation, working with the X-Men on many occasions to save the lives of humans and mutants alike.

Magneto is a stern and steadfast leader who can execute his vision for a better world by any means necessary. Given the oppressive world that The Maker has created and Tony Stark’s recent fall in Ultimates #6, a character like Magneto could bring the Ultimates together as a true team and inspire others towards their common goal of reclaiming their destinies stolen by The Maker.
