Phase Six will premiere in July 2025 with Fantastic Four: First Steps, so the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is here. With the recent conceptual art leak, Marvel fans are investigating and theorizing about what’s coming, especially regarding Battleworld in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Battleworld is one of the comics’ most important elements of Secret Wars. This is a patchwork map of realities created by Doom, full of different domains with different storylines covered by the many tie-ins of this event. All these are potential future storylines for the MCU, but which ones will make it to the big screen?

Age of Ultron vs. Marvel Zombies Mixes Two Great Ideas
Created by James Robinson, Steve Pugh, and Ron Garney
Age of Ultron vs. Marvel Zombies is set in the most dangerous domains of all Battleworld: Perfection and the Deadlands. The former is a cold robotic land, ruled by Ultron and void of all emotion. The latter is full of rabid zombies. These two locations are so dangerous that they’re beyond the Shield, and no one can access them. Instead, they serve as a prison for those exiled from Battleworld.
Since Age of Ultron and Marvel Zombies are among Marvel’s most epic and action-packed storylines, combining both is obviously amazing. Both storylines have been loosely adapted in the MCU, so Marvel Studios may consider including these two domains for some flesh vs. metal action.

Howard the Human Is Short But Fun
Created by Skottie Young and Jim Mahfood
Even in alternate realities, Howard the Duck is always the odd one out, and Secret Wars is no exception. In a land full of anthropomorphic animals, Howard is the only human. Howard the Human follows his day as a private investigator in New Quack City. In this particular one-shot, he’s trying to find the murderer of a spy to save his own skin.
Howard the Human isn’t a complex storyline or a watershed story. It’s simply a fun, straightforward comic in which the authors play with the clichés of detective fiction and the anthropomorphization of everyone’s favorite heroes. Mouse Murdock becomes Howard’s close ally during his adventure, making it perfect for a short, funny cameo that will leave fans wanting more.

Shang-Chi Could Return As The Master of Kung Fu
Created by Haden Blackman and Dalibor Talajic
Shang-Chi hit the big screen in 2021 with a solo film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Since then, fans have eagerly waited to see him again, especially because the film’s post-credit scene signaled he would join other heroes like Captain Marvel and Hulk. It’s been four years already and there is no news of him returning to the MCU. Master of Kung Fu would be the perfect way of bringing Simu Liu and Shang-Chi back.

The 13 Best Hand-To-Hand Fighters In Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics have an abundance of super-powered individuals, but one should never underestimate their hand-to-hand fighters.
This four-issue series revamps the 1974 series with a darker vibe. A drunken Shang-Chi reminisces about K’un Lun’s history, discussing the “Thirteen Chambers” tournament, which decides the emperor of this nation. Inspired by the wuxia genre, it reimagines some of the best martial artists in Marvel as part of K’un-Lun’s tale. It’s full of amazing fight scenes that would allow Liu to flex his abilities.

1602 Witch Hunter Angela Gives 1602 a New Chance
Created by Marguerite Bennett, Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans, and Marguerite Sauvage
King James’ England inside Battleworld is a land where mutants are considered witches and Faustians are humans who have struck a deal with the devil, Enchantress. Lady Serah and Sister Angela are two hunters trying to free the world from their kind, but things are never that simple.
1602 Witch Hunter Angela has little to do with the original 1602 series beyond the medieval setting, but it’s still a great option for bringing high fantasy into the MCU. With the MCU’s recent concept art leak showing characters redesigned in medieval attire, this adaptation could be a reality very soon.

Future Imperfect Pits Two Marvel Powerhouses Against Each Other
Created by Peter David and Greg Land
Future Imperfect offers a true brawl for the ages. Maestro, one of the most evil versions of Hulk, rules Dystopia with an iron fist. The Thing- although not necessarily Ben Grimm- is the revolution’s leader against the Green Giant. This leads to fights that cause earthquakes.
Fans have been longing for a more brutal version of Hulk for years, and Secret Wars may give them what they want by adapting Future Imperfect. By that point in the timeline, both Thunderbolt Ross—the actual Thing in this reality—and Earth-616 Ben Grimm will be in the MCU, so Marvel Studios truly has no excuse not to bring the story to the big screen.

Infinity Gauntlet Plays With The Infinity Saga
Created by Gerry Duggan and Dustin Weaver
Like the original series, Secret Wars’ Infinity Gauntlet follows the quest for the Infinity Stones in a race against Thanos. This time, the heroes aren’t the Avengers, but Anwen Bakian, a teenager from the Bakian Clan, and the rest of her family – including her mother, a Nova Corps member –who are living through a war in space against the Annihilation Wave.

The impact of the MCU’s Infinity Saga cannot be understated, with the Marvel franchise changing the course of cinema in so many different ways.
Infinity Gauntlet is a fun, emotional read, which already gives it many points. Additionally, it’s the one Battleworld series that re-creates the Infinity Saga, so Marvel Studios would blow a chance to remind viewers of this amazing time in the MCU with a refreshed version of that story. Besides, since everyone already knows the context of Thanos and the stones, it would be easy to include it without losing too much time on lore.

Fans Are Still Waiting On Armor Wars
Created by James Robinson and Marcio Takara
Set in Technopolis, one of the many Battleworld domains, Armor Wars follows the rivalry between Tony and Arno Stark, both armor manufacturers. Since Technopolis is ridden with an incurable disease, everyone uses armor all the time, so the two Starks have an emporium. Of course, the best part of the series is all the armored variants of Marvel heroes.
Out of all the MCU projects so far, Armor Wars has had the most unstable pre-production process. It was announced around 2020 and even re-formatted from a TV series to a movie. Recently, it was announced thatit would be put on the back burner. It might be time for the MCU to let this story go, but a Battleworld inspired by 2015’s Armor Wars would be a great way to say goodbye.

A-Force Would Let She-Hulk Shine
Created by G. Willow Wilson and Jorge Molina
Set in Arcadia, A-Force follows an all-female team of powerful superheroes who protect their land from outsiders. This domain is ruled by She-Hulk, who works alongside Captain Marvel, Dazzler, Nico Minoru, Miss America, and Pixie to keep her nation safe — even from Doom’s authority.
A-Force was beloved enough that it got a second volume once Secret Wars was over. Since it’s a pretty straightforward tale, it’s basically just another great Avengers volume. The MCU should consider adapting it—it would be amazing to see Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel lead a team together.

Ultimate End Could Open The Door For The Ultimate Universe
Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley
15 years after the creation of the Ultimate Marvel universe, Secret Wars included Ultimate End. Set in the Kingdom of Manhattan, this reality combines Earth-616 and Earth-1610, known as Earth-61610. Here, two variants of different heroes, like Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, are forced to co-exist and even join forces to survive.

Even in a world made to prevent superheroes, Earth-6160 still has many powerful characters who could stand against The Maker as the new Ultimates.
So far, very few MCU heroes have gotten variant versions. This makes sense due to the narrative economy – not all stories can depend on multiversal chaos. Ultimate End could be the best way to include variants in a non-committal way – or the opposite: it could help soft launch the Ultimate Universe in this cinematic universe.

Planet Hulk Follows A Hulk Nation
Created by Sam Humphries and Marc Laming
One image from the recent Secret Wars leak features Hulk, She-Hulk, and another Gamma being together at a medieval village. Behind them, other gamma beings are just living their lives. It’s clear this is a domain where Hulks are the norm, and there may not even be any humans.
With this in mind, fans theorize that the MCU will adapt Planet Hulk, the story of a gamma-bombed domain. In the comic, Steve Rogers is a gladiator on a journey through the Hulk-ridden Greenlands, but the MCU may only loosely adapt this, instead focusing on Hulk’s story. Whether a strict or a loose adaptation, Planet Hulk will surely bring many action-packed scenes into the MCU.
